Workshops Around And About

A couple of weeks ago I gave a workshop to the ladies of the Mosaik group. It was the first one of the year and so nice to see these ladies again.

I thought I’d try and push them out of the size they’re normally used to creating with and have a go at a full sized layout along with some small pre-made embellishments to use with their card making and mini page layouts.

As usual we started with a kit which they loved and I got them sewing through paper and layering elements together as well as adding some touches of gold accents here and there.

The next time we meet will be in May which I’m already planning.

The other workshop was with a group of local ladies who wanted to learn the art of book folding. They’d seen the tree Lena and I had taught Mosaik before Christmas and wanted to do a similar thing. As it’s Spring I showed them a birdhouse complete with little bird and a bit of foliage.

Stitches 2016

I’m so late in posting this but seriously there aren’t enough days in the week at the moment. It’s been a couple of weeks now since I got back from Stitches trade show in the UK. It was an absolutely amazing time because this year I actually had my very own little part of the NEC which was all mine. It was all thanks to CHA UK who for the very first time opened up their stand to include us designer members and give us a place to showcase our work to the world.

A New Journal Page and some News

Well I’m feeling a bit ashamed of myself for missing a week of blogging but it’s been quite full on some good, some bad and some amazing. Last Monday I didn’t get around to journaling which hurt me greatly (I get really antsy if I don’t do something creative) but by the end of the week I’d made up for it with a bit of a quickie which is here. Some pretty simple drawing with a dip pen and black ink which I’d totally forgotten I used to love. The page underneath is Dylusions acrylics and the ink goes beautifully over the top unlike alot of pens. It was an exercise in keeping things simple without over thinking things.

Messy Monday in the studio

The weather’s vile, I’ve had a cold and spent the weekend coughing and felt vile so the only thing to do was stay in paint something.

I decided to create another background of hand writing nonesense and this time I used ink and a dip pen to write it. I like the dip pen technique alot as it makes my drivel look arty.

I put a few flowers on the page to finish it off and all the while I was drawing them I had Lazy Daisy going round on a loop in my head.

I’d like to know if you’ve created a page with hand writing on it somewhere. It might be the title or the background, where ever you feel comfortable adding it.

Have a good week and stay warm
