Sale Time

A new year means a tidy up in the basement so I’m having a little sale of craft materials with 40% off until January 31st using the code JAN2040 at the checkout. Time to grab your favourite Distress ink or stencil as well as stamps and much more.

As well as the sale I’ve created a new section, the Bargain Basement where I’ve added all of the paper packs and stickers. This is because once they’ve gone I won’t be stocking any more. I want to take Basement Studio in a different direction this year so I would like to destock the papers and kits.

Going Back To What I love

Firstly, a very happy 2020 to everyone, I’ve had a tummy bug for the past 24 hours so not a great start to the year, but hey on the bright side I’ve lost those extra Christmas kilo’s! There’s always a bright side.

Remind me next Christmas not to bother with a December journal, even the smaller format didn’t help. I failed dismally and it lies unfinished (unstarted actually) in my box of Christmas crafting bits. I’ve closed the lid and put the box away not to be opened until Christmas 2020! Some you win, some you loose, just as long as I learn from it!

I think maybe this was why I took a long hard look at my planners and decided what it was I really wanted out of them and for a while now I’ve had a longing to go back to using an art journal. I’ve missed it as it used to be such a big part of my life. So in the above photo, on the left is a brand new Dylusions square journal all ready to be inked and painted in. It’ll probably take me a while to dirty the first page but once I have I’ll be off like a rocket.

Next is a bullet journal for every day planning in a rose gold cover I made for it from some amazing paper fabric. The Simple Stories travelers notebook has two Moleskine sketchbooks in as the size is perfect for them. The pink case has a Basement Studio planner to keep me on track, and after that is a hand bound watercolour sketchbook for a bit of watercolour play as the Moleskine isn’t really up to the job. Next comes my calligraphy practice book. The last two books are an A6 bullet journal in a hand made cover for carrying around in my bag and a brand new itty bitty mini travelers notebook just because everyone should have one!

I’ve started the every day bullet journal and had the chance to use my Hearts stencil I designed for Paper Pen and Plan and their January Kit Box. I created this graphic design by simply masking with washi tape and using Distress inks through the stencil. I love how it worked out from such a simple design.

Well that’s all from me today, have a lovely weekend and I’ll be back soon trying to break out of my usual colour comfort zone!

Why I’m Downsizing My December Journal!

I don’t know how many of you keep a December journal? It becomes more popular every season. I love the idea of it and love the preparation but I don’t think I’ve ever managed to make it past day twelve. Well actually that’s not true I think I managed to finish one once but I didn’t get around to it until Easter! Sigh!! In the past I’ve made travelers notebooks, an altered book, junk journals, ringbound, you name it I’ve tried it!

December Journals

If there’s one thing I’ve learned from this past year it’s that the passport sized Misty Rose travelers notebook is the planner which I keep using regularly and seem to have no problem filling out. This made me think that perhaps this size would be perfect as a December journal this year.

With this in mind I made myself an insert, well actually it’s one which I already had – a mixed media insert for my Misty Rose by Prima and sold by Paper Pen and Plan. I simply covered it with paper from the November Sweet Treat Box by Paper Pen and Plan as well as a few stickers from a collection kit I bought from them last year.

I seriously hope that this is going to be easier to fill than previous books! Anyway It’ll look good in my bag plus if I’m out and about it’ll come with me seeing as it’s in my travelers notebook cover.

The Misty Rose travelers notebook and inserts can be found at www.etsy.com/shop/paperpenandplan as well as lots of other planner and Christmas goodies.

Christmas in a Tin

Hello again, here’s another post from me. This time a very cute (can I say that about my own project?) little Christmas project using some fabulous metal embellishments from Mitform Castings.

Mitform were generous enough to send the Craft Stamper office some of their castings to try out and we had a brilliant time creating with them. My little sardine tin scene is a project I’ve had in my head for ages now, ever since I brought the tin back from a holiday in Portugal. As soon as I recieved the castings I knew this would be the opportunity I was waiting for to create my diarama. With everything given a little wipe of gesso and texture paste snow, I sprinkled on some WOW! glitter to give it some sparkle.

The street is actually created from my own house stamps which I shrunk down using shrink plastic! I was absolutely amazed at how well they fitted in the tin. The tree or pine cone was found and the little car comes from a Monopoly set (an old one from the recycling centre). It all sticks so well using E6000 glue. That stuff is good!

As Mitform were so generous, we’ve decided to have a giveaway on the Craft Stamper Facebook page which you can find here. Or the blog post is on the Craft Stamper blog here. You can find my house stamps here.

Have a lovely day,
