WOW And The Coffee Lovers Blog Hop

Good morning coffee lovers and tea drinkers and non caffeine related drinks lovers too, lets not be drinkist here.

As I sip my second coffee of the day I’m longing to show you a little project I finished on behalf of WOW for the Coffee Lovers Blog Hop which is happening right now.

The Coffee Loving Papercrafters are a fun group of people who share a love of coffee with their love of paper craft and so they decided it would be fun to host a blog hop to showcase some of their talent and WOW Embossing Powders is taking part in the hop. I along with the other designers have come up with coffee themed projects of our own and this is mine.

Whilst not a card I decided to go with my first thought which was to use one of the million coffee sleeves I’ve managed to squirrel over the years to make this little sketchbook.

Of course the inside pages had to match up too so my daughter and I spent a very enjoyable afternoon coffee dying paper together in the Spring sunshine to make my pages.

I love making these quick books, I find them addictive and adorable and a great way to use up small scraps of paper and fabric. Of course you don’t have to go to the extreem of dying paper but it is satisfying and the smell too is amazing. I especially love the way the paper warps and feels once it’s dried.

Some of the pages I also used in this collage which I posted on the WOW blog recently. It was made on one of the black pages of my mixed media journal which really make everything pop out.

Below you can see I even used a tea bag on the page. These make great collage papers and layer beautifully.

I stamped and embossed using the new Glintz powders from WOW as they really blended well with my materials. You can read the full blog post here.

Anyway, back to my little coffee sleeve mini and if you go to the WOW blog you can enter the Coffee Lovers hop for yourself and win some fabulous prizes.

Hop along to wow for your chance to WIN! Our Super sponsor blog hop prizes include 2 x February Creative Club Kits! PLUS 5% off store wide using code WOWCLH0518 just click on the link.

Foiled Projects

We’re already half way through April and before you know it we’ll be in May and looking forward to Summer. That does scare me a little bit. When I was younger time seemed to drag by so very slowly I was wishing my days away but now I think it’s like being on a bob slay ride. I’ve still got lots of things to cross off my to do list from New Year and new things are being added all the time.  It’s the same for all of us I suppose. We just have to make every second count and try not to waste any.

The reason for the rant was because I can see from my blog that I’ve not been keeping my posts up as frequently as I should. Time has been going by so fast I’ve not had chance some weeks to sit and write.  Anyway, I think you’d much prefer the pretty pictures so here are a few.

Last week I had a project up on the WOW blog where this months theme is Foils. I adore using foils especially through a stencil as I did here.

At the same time WOW are also running their monthly challenge over on the their Facebook group where anyone can join in with a project. Again Foils are the theme and here I simply used the foil with some double sided tape to create a border around my April bullet journal page.

I’m practicing my hand lettering too and the more I do the better it gets.

Have a good week

Friday In The Studio – A Look At The March Projects

March has been a funny month so far. The beginning of the month was super cold, then the sun came out and we had a brief taste of Spring and then the snow and cold temperatures returned just to keep us on our toes and after another hint of sunshine the rain has returned to make us feel miserable again.

Meanwile in the studio there have been lots of projects on the go.

This card made using WOW embossing powders and glitter along with the fabulous quote stamp went up on the WOW blog a couple of weeks ago.

The theme for the month of March is Sparkles and the quote was the inspiration behind the card. It was a brilliant opportunity to go over the top with glitter, something which normally makes me nervous but it gave me great pleasure this time around. I only wish my photo would have captured how much the die cuts do sparkle, it’s amazing.

The beginning of March I did something a bit different and contributed to a new online magazine called the Creative Planner by submitting a coloring page for their self care challenge. If you’d like to download and use my colouring page or indeed read the whole magazine you’ll find it here. The Creative Planner are on Facebook and Instagram if you want to follow them too.

For a while now I’ve been sewing notebook covers in felt which have been very successful with orders coming in for custom sizes and applique designs on the front. I’ll continue to make these notebook covers which you can find here on my Etsy store at basementsixtyfive along with pen holders also in felt but I’ve also been making covers in canvas which brings other possibilities like being able to paint on it too. This little A6 version was made using canvas from Canvas Corp and I created a blog tutorial showing how to get the design on the canvas fabric.  I have a feeling you’ll be seeing more of this and others in the future. The design is of course my stamped houses which looks just so cool here on the front.

I’m still experimenting with different bullet journal layouts but the one thing I’m sticking with for now is my hand drawn style and the watercolour paints. I know this one is far from perfect but it’s definitely the style I want to continue with. The mini stickers come from Paper Pen and Plan on Etsy   They’re just the perfect size too.

Have a good weekend everyone and I’ll catch up next week.
