New year, new projects

We’re well into 2021 by now and here in the studio I’m trying to focus on anything which takes attention away from the on going pandemic blues.

My morning forest walks with Cooper are helping immensely and give me time to reflect and imagine new projects and ideas.

These New Year cards are in the shop at the moment in packs of 3 and are the perfect way to stay in touch with people who you can’t see right now. You can find them here by following this link.

Last summer I made this cute little art journal from a pile of geli prints but since then it’s been on my shelf and admired but not added to. I’ve decided to put that right this year and add a quick collage or piece of artwork once a week. Being so small it’s the perfect place to create something quick and with the backgrounds already painted, less intimidating and satisfies a need for me to create art in some way. I recommend it to anyone, get out your stash, make a mini journal and keep a few scraps in a box for collage, add a sticker and it’s done!

Stencil production has resumed in the studio and these have gone out to Paper Pen and Plan to use in their monthly subscription boxes. If you fancy a mini bullet journal stencil why not visit Paper Pen and Plan on Etsy and sign up for the next box? Just follow this link.

Well that’s all for now, as it’s Wednesday I’m working on new things for the shop and right now I’m making memory albums for Valentine’s Day.

Have a great week

World card day blog hop

Today is World Card Making Day and together with my team mates at WOW! Embossing Powder and organised by our team leader Jo, we’re hosting a fun and inspirational blog hop to celebrate.

Card making is more important than ever right now. Sending a few words just to show someone you’re thinking of them, especially if you can’t say it in person, the thought will always be appreciated.

I thought I’d use one of my favourite stamp sets from WOW! Flights of Fancy to create these three cards.

In this first card below, I’ve used Glassy Ocean from the Dockside Trio and Serene from the Riviera Trio both of which are gorgeous sets of powders.

On the card below I’ve used one of my favourite Trio’s, Forever 13 which features a beautiful glittery turquoise, a purple and delicate pink. I just love using these together.

And finally for my third card I used All That Jazz from the same Forever 13 trio but on its own this time. I’m just a sucker for a turquoise colour.

I do hope you’ve found some inspiration here and throughout our hop. Do continue on and visit us all. Comment along each of the Design Team member’s posts for a chance to win a $25 gift card to either our UK or USA stores. (One comment per blog please). You have until Wednesday, October 7th at 11:59PM British Summertime to leave your comments. Winners will be announced on Thursday, October 8th. So here’s the full line up below.

WOW! On Hochanda

I always get a thrill when I see my creations on Hochanda Craft tv with WOW! Last thursday was one of those opportunities with a show featuring Changers and Foils.

You can still find this in their archived shows

These Changers are an amazing product and do exactly as you’d imagine by changing the shade of an embossing powder with a slightly textured or shimmery finish.

I created two cards using the Changes kit, the above leaf stamp which shows the different shades of the same colour and the one below using it to create an ombré effect on the background and a contrast on the butterfly.

I had a lot of fun though creating using the Fab Foils. There are so many ways to use the foils but I do prefer using the Bonding Powder as it leaves more of a distressed finish over a painted background.

I can get gorgeous texture as well as shine, especially if I use the Freestyle brush like I have below.

I love this colour scheme at the moment with a splash of gold, it’s so pretty I think.

For all the products seen here as well as the stamps used go to the WOW! web site here

January So Far

Despite the on going clear out in the basement, my work table still looks like a bomb has gone off on top of it. It’s littered with projects I’m working on which you’ll get to see soon along with some new craft materials I found last weekend at Expo Creativ in Luxembourg, exciting stuff. I visited Lux Expo with friends taking public transport to get there for a change. Honestly, I have no idea why I don’t do it more often. It’s so cheap and painless and in March it’ll be free too so it’s a bit of a no brainer! We were pleasantly surprised to discover a few new craft stands as well as some familiar faces. We have to continue to support this local event even though it’s tiny in comparison with Frankfurt or Dortmund. It’s still the only event of its kind in the country. Lena keeps telling me I need to have a stand there too, maybe one day!

My A6 bullet journal and cover embellished with materials from the January box from Paper Pen and Plan on Etsy

I’m continuing to use my A6 bullet journal this year, it’s the only one I regularly kept up in 2019. I’m using one called Scribbles That Matter which I found on line and it’s great. I don’t get any bleed through with my pens and I’m mostly using a Micron pen for my doodles. This little one won’t be used with watercolour paints as it’s for carrying around with me and on the go planning so has to be functional and practical. It does come with a nifty pen holder but I’m reusing my hand painted cover so the holder gets lost inside, but I’m sure I can knock something up if I need it.

January kicked off with the first Facebook challenge of the year on the WOW! Facebook page. The new theme is Love, Valentine, Wedding etc so it was a brilliant opportunity to create some hearts. I’m not an obviously, all pink and red hearts sort of person so jumped at the chance to try out some new colour combinations coming up with these two cards. I simply can’t decide which of the purple colours I like best, Royal Crush or Persian Indigo, they’re equally gorgeous. Photography isn’t my strong point and I really wish you could see how wonderful they are. I love that little splash of colour on the top one created by simply dipping a piece of watercolour paper into Distress Oxide inks on my craft mat. It’s a technique I love.

Have a great weekend I hope it’s a crafty one and I’ll speak soon.
